Without one, it's a single day: diamond grinding to remove existing coatings or stains, crack repair, the base coat, a decorative flake broadcast into the wet base coat, and the final UV-stable polyaspartic topcoat. With a barrier, it's two days, because the barrier primer has to cure overnight before anything goes over it: Day 1 is grinding, crack repair and the barrier, and Day 2 is the base coat, flake and topcoat. A final cure check is performed before you can use your floor. For larger commercial spaces or floors with significant damage requiring repair, we may add a Day 3. We'll provide a specific timeline after we assess your floor and discuss your project details.
Polyaspartic coatings cure faster than epoxy, but patience during the first few days is critical for long-term durability. You can walk on the floor lightly after 24 hours—use soft-soled shoes and avoid dragging heavy items. We recommend waiting a full 72 hours before parking a vehicle on the floor to allow the coating to fully cure and reach maximum hardness. During this time, avoid heavy foot traffic, moisture, and any stress on the surface. After 72 hours, the coating has achieved 90% of its full hardness and will continue to harden over the next 7-10 days. By day 10, your floor is at full strength and can handle standard garage use—vehicles, tools, impact, and chemical spills. The patience upfront ensures your investment lasts 15–20+ years without peeling or degrading.
Our Premium and Original floors are 100% polyurea and polyaspartic, not epoxy or acrylic. Polyaspartic is a premium aliphatic polyurea that offers superior performance for garage and floor applications. Unlike traditional epoxy, which yellows under UV light, weakens with temperature swings, and takes 5-7 days to cure, polyaspartic coatings are UV-stable and ready to walk on the next day. They're significantly stronger, more flexible, and more resistant to hot tire pickup, chemical spills, oil, moisture, and impact. Polyaspartic provides a harder, more durable surface that resists yellowing, peeling, and degradation—even in extreme climates like Arizona heat or Pacific Northwest moisture. Yes. Most minor cracks, stains, and surface imperfections can be addressed during our comprehensive surface preparation process. Our 5-step process begins with diamond grinding, which removes the top 1/8" of concrete and eliminates existing coatings, sealants, stains, and minor surface defects. For hairline cracks and small chips, diamond grinding blends them seamlessly into the surface. For larger structural cracks (wider than 1/8"), we use epoxy crack filler to seal them before coating, preventing moisture from migrating beneath the new coating. Rust stains from rebar, oil spots, and organic growth are all removed during grinding. However, we'll assess your floor upfront and let you know if there are structural issues—like major cracking, spalling concrete, or a slab that's sinking—that require professional concrete repair before we can coat. We want to set accurate expectations so your coating performs perfectly for 15–20+ years.
You don't need to be home the entire time, but we need someone present for the initial walkthrough on Day 1 and again at completion. On Day 1 arrival, we'll review the project scope, confirm the color selection, discuss any concerns about your floor condition, and explain our timeline for that day. We'll also photograph your existing floor for before-and-after documentation. During the actual work, you can be elsewhere—the project takes 6-8 hours on Day 1, and we work independently. At completion (end of Day 1 or Day 2), we'll do a final walkthrough together, explain the curing timeline, discuss post-installation care, and answer any questions. If you can't be present at completion, you can assign a responsible adult (family member or property manager) as long as they can walk through the floor with us. We prioritize clear communication and want you confident in your new coating before you start using it.
Our polyaspartic coatings are engineered to last 15–20+ years with normal residential or commercial use. Durability depends on use intensity and environment—a garage with regular vehicle storage will last longer than a commercial warehouse with forklifts and constant chemical exposure. Our coatings resist hot tire pickup (common in parked vehicles), chemicals like antifreeze and gasoline, oil stains, water, salt, and heavy impacts from dropped tools or equipment. With normal use, you won't see peeling, yellowing, or degradation. Proper maintenance—sweeping regularly and using pH-neutral cleaners—extends life further. No. Epoxy is a resin-and-hardener system that cures rigid and ambers in sunlight. Polyaspartic is an aliphatic polyurea: it cures faster, stays slightly flexible, stays clear and can be applied in a cool garage. People call any coated garage floor "epoxy", which is why both names turn up on one quote. Our Premium and Original floors are a polyurea base coat and flake under a clear polyaspartic topcoat.
Any glossy coating is slick when it's wet, and a Seattle garage sees wet tires most of the year. We broadcast flake to full coverage, which gives the surface texture, and mix anti-slip grit into the clear topcoat for traction. Ask for extra grit if you want more grip at the door or on steps.
While it's wet, the hardener contains isocyanates that irritate skin, eyes and lungs, so our crew applies it with respirators and the garage door open, and we ask that people and pets stay out until the floor is walkable the next day. The low-odor formulation fades as it cures. Once cured, the floor is an inert plastic that doesn't off-gas.
It's tack-free within hours. You can walk on the floor the day after we finish, park on it after 72 hours, and it reaches full hardness in 7 to 10 days. A floor that needs a moisture barrier takes an extra install day, because the barrier primer cures overnight before the base coat.
Only after grinding. If the old epoxy is firmly bonded everywhere, diamond grinding dulls it to a profile the new coating can grip. If it's peeling anywhere, it comes off down to bare concrete first, because anything applied over a coating that has lost its bond peels with it.
Yes. On every floor, cracks are filled and ground flush before coating, and on a Premium floor the larger ones are cut open and rebuilt. The exception is a crack that's still moving or has one side higher than the other. That's a slab problem to repair first, and we'll say so at the estimate.
From above, yes: water, oil and road salt sit on top of a cured floor and wipe up. From below, no coating stops moisture vapor coming up through the slab on its own, which is why every slab is moisture-tested before we coat and gets a vapor barrier primer when the test calls for one.
The coating letting go of the concrete: if it delaminates, including peeling, blistering or hot-tire pickup, we repair or recoat the affected area at no charge. It doesn't cover damage that isn't the bond failing, such as impact from a dropped tool, abrasion, staining, improper maintenance or using the floor before the cure times we give you.
Yes. Hot-tire pickup happens when a warm tire softens a thin or under-cured coating and lifts it. A full-thickness polyaspartic topcoat resists it, the 72-hour rule before parking prevents it, and it's covered by the adhesion warranty if it ever happens.
