Garage Floor Coating in Newcastle, WA

Your bikes come home muddy from the Cougar Mountain trails. The builder's slab under them has hairline cracks along the saw cuts. Our garage floor coating, the upgrade over an epoxy floor, gives your Newcastle garage full flake under a clear topcoat. We test your slab first, and the estimate is free.

Newcastle garage floor coating, start to finish

Task Force Garage installs garage floor coating in Newcastle, WA. We diamond-grind your slab and fill its cracks, then lay a polyurea base coat, a full broadcast of vinyl flake and a clear polyaspartic topcoat with anti-slip grit. Every slab is moisture-tested before we quote, and the estimate at your house is free.

Most Newcastle slabs finish in a day. When the meter says damp, our moisture barrier primer goes on first and needs the night to cure, so plan on two. You'll be walking on the new floor the next morning and parking on it 72 hours after we finish.

Comparing epoxy flooring in Newcastle? What we install is the upgrade over an epoxy floor. You get the same prep and flake look, and ours cures in hours, bends with your slab and won't yellow in the afternoon sun. You're parked in three days instead of about a week.

What a 1990s Newcastle slab usually needs

About three in four Newcastle houses went up in 1980 or later, and yours is likely one of them. That gives your floor a head start, with less old paint and fewer decades of oil for us to grind away.

Twenty or thirty years on, though, a builder slab shows its age. You'll often find hairline cracks along the saw cuts, tire marks, and a sealer or weekend kit gone cloudy and loose. Washington's code also lets builders skip the plastic sheet under a garage slab, so yours gets the same moisture test as an older one.

What Newcastle's hills bring into your garage

Newcastle climbs from Lake Washington toward Cougar Mountain. The views are worth it, and they come with a few jobs for your garage floor.

Water runs downhill

On a sloped lot, rain and snowmelt run down your driveway toward the door, and bare concrete soaks up whatever crosses the threshold. We read your slab right inside the door, and the topcoat keeps that water on top.

Mud on everything

Newcastle's trails connect to Cougar Mountain, and Lake Boren Park sits right in town, so your bikes, boots and dog come home muddy. Full flake hides the mess between cleanups, and a hose rinses it out the door.

Slush from the hill

When snow hits, the city treats known problem spots and clears main routes first. Neighborhood streets wait their turn, and private roads are up to owners, so you drive home through slush. It mops right off a coated floor.

Live in an HOA neighborhood? Tell us its rules on contractor parking and work hours when you book, and we'll plan around them. Your cars spend three nights out of the garage, so check where they're allowed to sit.

WhenWhat happens
MorningWe re-check your slab, then diamond-grind it, edges by hand, with vacuums running.
Late morningCracks and saw-cut joints are filled and ground level.
MiddayThe polyurea base goes down, and flake is thrown in until no base shows.
AfternoonLoose flake comes off, and the clear topcoat with grit goes on.
Next dayWalk on it and carry light things in.
Day threePark your cars, 72 hours after the topcoat.

If your slab needs the barrier, the primer goes down on day one and the rest follows on day two.

What a Newcastle garage floor costs

Your price comes in writing after the visit. For a rough number now, here's what professionally installed coatings run across the Seattle area, from thin, light-prep jobs to full flake.

  • $2.5Kโ€“$10Kmost three-car garages
  • $4โ€“$12per square foot, installed

Size moves your number most. A three-bay garage costs more in total but less per square foot. After that come crack repair, any sealer or kit to grind off, and the barrier if your slab needs it. A younger slab often keeps the prep side down.

Premium includes the barrier, cove base, coated steps, a flake design session and a one-year inspection, at no extra charge. If your slab tests dry, Original may be all you need, and we'll tell you. Every floor carries a lifetime adhesion warranty.

Prices by garage size are in our Seattle-area cost guide.

Questions

Newcastle garage floor coating questions

How much does garage floor coating cost in Newcastle, WA?

Across the Seattle area, most professionally installed coatings run about $1,600 to $5,800 for a two-car garage and $2,500 to $10,000 for a three-car. A newer Newcastle slab often needs less prep than an old one, which helps. Your exact price comes in writing at the free estimate, line by line.

Is epoxy flooring a good choice for a Newcastle garage?

Plain epoxy can work in a warm, dry garage, and an unheated garage around here is neither for much of the year. Epoxy wants a warm slab, cures slowly, stays rigid and yellows in the sun. Our floor keeps the epoxy look over the same diamond-ground prep, but it cures in hours, flexes with your slab and stays clear. Compare them side by side.

Does a 1990s garage slab still need a moisture test?

Yes. Washington's building code doesn't require a plastic sheet under a garage slab, even today, so your slab's age alone tells us little. We meter your slab and look for chalky deposits or dark, damp-looking patches. If the readings run high, the barrier primer goes down first and your job takes two days.

Does our HOA need to approve a garage floor coating?

The coating goes on inside your garage, so it doesn't change how your house looks from the street. Check your CC&Rs if you're unsure. What usually takes planning is install day itself: contractor parking, work hours and where your cars sit for three nights. Tell us your HOA's rules when you book, and we'll work within them.

Can you coat a garage with a steep driveway?

Yes. We coat the garage slab itself, and a steep drive mostly changes where our truck parks and how water reaches your door. Rain and snowmelt that run down the drive end up at your threshold. So we read your slab there, and the clear topcoat keeps that water on top, where you can squeegee it out.

Will a coating fix the cracks in our garage floor?

It fixes how they look and seals them. We fill each crack and saw-cut joint and grind it flush, and full flake hides the patch lines. A crack that's still moving can show a fine line through any floor in time, and we'll point those out at the estimate. More on cracked garage floors.

When is the best time to book a Newcastle install?

Fall and winter, if you like having your pick of dates, since most people call in spring. Our system cures in a cold garage, so what sets your date is the moisture in your slab, and we test that first. On a damp morning, our crew also checks that your slab and the air sit at least five degrees above the dew point.

Do you cover East Olympus, China Creek and Hazelwood?

Yes, and every other Newcastle neighborhood, on both sides of Coal Creek Parkway. That includes Hazelwood, Lake Washington Ridge, West Olympus and Newport Woods, plus East Olympus, Lake Boren, China Creek, The Reserve, The Highlands and The Trails. Just outside the city, we cover Bellevue and Renton too.
